“I Did It- So Can You.”

Two days ago, I received the news I’ve been dreaming and waiting on for a whole year.

Last year, around this time, I set a goal to work my way through admittance to a specific nursing program. Because of this goal, I worked ten times harder than I normally would- giving nothing but my best.

Even though I was working at my best, I was scared and had doubts.

I was scared and had doubts because of standardized testing.

We all know the pains and anguish of standardized testing.

Standardized testing made me insecure and doubtful about my intelligence and capabilities academically.

Sometimes I even felt embarrassed to even think about how I wasn’t directly admitted into the program. I just felt unintelligent.

Isn’t it insane how impactful standardized testing is?!

A Year Later, I Learned That …

Standardized tests don’t define you.

For a whole year, I was thinking that I wasn’t smart enough, but clearly that’s not the case. I was so stressed about getting into the program. Standardized testing can really do so much to one’s self-conscious.

It’s crazy how at this time last year, I was stressing and praying that Allah (swt) would have this written for me. I am beyond thankful that after all my patience and complete trust in Him, He has blessed me with this desire. Alhamduliah.

My friend’s and family always say that I always go above and beyond the academic expectations, but the truth is, I felt that I had to affirm that I belong to the nursing program.

So what did I do? I had no choice but to bring it on.

Through the sacrifice of working harder than normal, I developed beneficial habits and skills that is resourceful for college, entrepreneurship, and life in general. I’m thankful for this.

Do You Have a Goal You Have Doubts About?

WORK TOWARDS IT. Forget all the doubts.

There’s a quote that says, ‘you can’t be mad at the results you get from the work you didn’t do.’

That is 150% true. Nothing is going to be simply served on a silver platter.

If I never pushed myself to strive for a competitive academic profile, who knows if I would’ve been admitted to the nursing program or not.

Dear Reader/Listener,

If you ever feel like you can’t do it- fight that feeling! Fight that feeling by creating realistic goals and soughting after ways of implementing them.

You have so much more power than you know. Keep fighting and keep pushing.

As long as you are doing your best, you’re doing all that you can do 🙂

This week has been full of blessings. Alhamduliah. I am forever grateful.
